WHO WE ARE

Tahoma Values is a registered political action committee in the state of Washington that advocates for fairness, diversity, and equity in the Tahoma public schools.

Tahoma Values leverages a network of volunteers who contribute information and articles for our site, and who work within our community toward common goals. 

We have organized to support the cause of public education within our school district in every way, including

Staying aware of what’s happening in the public education sphere nationwide

Engaging with our local district to advocate for Tahoma values of equity, diversity and respect

Communicating news, knowledge, and information to our community and visitors on this site

We will advocate on behalf of school-related ballot measures, school board candidates, and city and state level candidates who have a strong record of support for our public school system.

We believe that the Tahoma School District is an integral part of our community, and the success of our school district directly impacts our wider region.

High-quality public schools help to create a healthy, engaged, and successful community, and those schools require adequate support from the local community in return.

Tahoma schools are what brought many of us here – either as kids ourselves, with our own growing families, or as current or former teachers. We want to see the high quality of education maintained while also acknowledging that our region is growing and changing, and our world is a different place than it was even five years ago. We will advocate for necessary changes to enable every single child in our region to access a quality public school education.

PAC CHAIR

Tahoma Values PAC is chaired by Mark Hoben, a 20+ year resident of Maple Valley, and the father of two adult children each educated in the Tahoma schools.

As the son of both a public school teacher and a school board director, Mark believes strongly that quality public schools help build strong communities, and understands the importance of advocating for schools and school systems that deliver quality educational opportunities for every student.
